If Dr. Seuss wrote the biography of St. Ignatius of Loyola, it would look like Audacious Ignatius, a new children’s book created by two longtime Jesuit educators. The creators of Audacious Ignatius are a brother-sister team: author Paul Mitchell, who taught at Chicago Jesuit Academy, and illustrator Katie Mitchell Broussard, who taught at Cristo Rey Jesuit High School in Chicago. 

“We believe that books for young people do not have to compromise on depth in order to be understandable,” said Paul Mitchell. “We created the kind of book that we want for our own children: deep, clever, clear, and shot through with the joy of the Gospel.”

Another book with a focus of Jesuit themes is Sharing the Wisdom of Time, a collection of stories from elders around the world. The book was created from the inspiration of Pope Francis, who wanted to shine a light on the vital role of elders. Loyola Press, the Chicago-based Jesuit publishing organization, embraced Pople Francis' vision and—through a long process of organizing more than 250 interviews around the world—shepherded the book to completion. 

The book contains 31 intimate and personal stories from elders, including from Pope Francis, as well as reflections from young people on the roles that their elder mentors have had in their lives.
