Magis: the tension of "more" in a liturgical season of "less"
A Lenten Morning of Reflection
Saturday, April 6, 2019 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. | Ascension Catholic Church 808 S. East Ave, Oak Park, IL |
Speaker: Lauren Hackman-Brooks
Chaplain, Loyola University Chicago - Health Sciences Division
The concept of
Magis, often translated as “more”, is inspiring, challenging and
often misappropriated by individuals and institutions. With other young
adults, reconsider “Magis” this Lent through individual prayer
and conversation during our annual Jesuit Connections
morning of reflection. Together we’ll explore how practices from our
tradition and contemporary culture- Sabbath, self-care, simplicity,
service, and Scripture- might help us redirect our pursuit of “more” in
service of the “greater” glory of God and the common
good.
